MoreAPPOINTMENT: Nicolas Blouin joins Metarom France as Director of R&D
Trained as a food engineer, Nicolas Blouin began his career in production. The experience thus gained enabled him to grasp the operational issues of a manufacturing site. It was not long before Nicolas Blouin decided to move to Research & Development. After three years’ experience in the savoury sector, Nicolas Blouin decided to put his R&D skills to work in the bakery goods area, with a particular focus on chocolate and dried fruit.
In July 2024, he became Director of R&D of the Metarom group’s French subsidiary.
R&D at the heart of the creation of flavoring solutions and caramels
Metarom’s R&D laboratory creates customized flavoring solutions and specialty caramels. Metarom develops mainly sweet food flavors for human consumption for cereal products, ice cream, dairy products, plant-based desserts, beverages, confectionery and health foods. It supports food manufacturers in the creation and industrialization of their finished products.
To produce flavors that meet the needs of the manufacturers it supports, the company has a strong focus on investing in its R&D laboratory. 17% of the French subsidiary’s staff work in the R&D department, where 1,500 new products are created every year.
“I'm delighted to turn to a new page in my professional life by joining the Metarom Group as Director of R&D France. I believe that my strong customer focus and my knowledge of the bakery sector will help me to contribute to the development of this fine company,” says Nicolas Blouin, Director of R&D at Metarom France.
